Speleogenesis is the natural process of the formation of caves and other karst interiors. Speleology; the study of cave structures and other karst features, reveals the history of life-forms and geology which have been sealed within them for millenia. Speleology often uncovers cave drawings and paintings undertaken by paleolithic humans which scientists use to evaluate the characteristics of prehistoric culture. Largely my practice involves a similar archeological search for images and cartoons mined from forgotten online sources. During my occupation of Stacks, I turned the space into my own cave using found online imagery. This project is a further inquiry into my interest in the history of the practice of painting and its complex relationship with its own genesis, modernity and end.
